I have a bit confusion in the word "cessation". Please clarify it if possible.
C comes with i,e and y to make soft sound like /s/.so, k is used to make it /k/ sound before any gerunds or suffixes.
When we hear /k/ in a multisyllabic word, /c/ is used there and 'panic' is a multisyllabic word. pa/nic
I think, in the word,pocket syllabification is done before the suffix 'et' and after a short vowel sound 'ck' is used. pock/et

K is used after the vowel team or any consonant at the end of a monosyllabic word..
In a monosyllabic word after short vowel sound, ck is used as /k/ at the end of the word. e.g - sick, pick, lick..
A query ... In word final, the syllabication will go like fi-nal, in word limit, it goes as lim-it Why it is so ??
